A North Carolina native, Martine Sherrill studied painting and art education at UNC-G, receiving a BFA in 1979. She continued her studies in photography and graphic design at Guilford Technical Community College. After a decade of working professionally in graphic design, prepress photography, and photograph restoration she earned an MLS at UNC-G focusing on special collections, archives, and preservation of works on paper. She has exhibited her paintings and mixed media photographs extensively.
As director of the Visual Resources Center, she is responsible for providing and managing a large collection of digital images, journals, dvds, reference books, etc. to support teaching within the university. In addition to this she also curates the art department’s impressive collection of fine art prints, drawings, and photographs.
Martine also serves as advisor to the Wake Forest Equestrian IHSA and IDA riding teams.
