TEACHING INTEREST

Dr. Dalton teaches a variety of special topics courses in critical media studies along with regularly offered sections of COM 120: Introduction to Film and Media Aesthetics, COM 318: Culture and the Sitcom, and COM 320: Media Theory and Criticism.

RESEARCH INTEREST

Dr. Dalton’s major areas research is critical media studies, and she is a documentary filmmaker. Her documentaries have been screened at various festivals, museums, galleries, and libraries. Her scholarly publications include articles, book chapters, and the books: The Hollywood Curriculum: Teachers in the Movies, Teacher TV: Sixty Years of Teachers on Television, and the co-edited volumes The Sitcom Reader: America Viewed and Skewed and Screen Lessons: What We Have Learned from Teachers on Television and in the Movies.
