Curriculum Vita

Claire Holton Hammond graduated form Mary Wasington College in 1973 with a BA in Economics and Mathematics. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1982. Her dissertation, “The Benefits of Subsidized Housing Programs: An Intertemporal Approach,” won the Irving Fisher Award for Best Dissertation in Economics in the United States in 1984 and was subsequently published by Cambridge University Press in 1987. She has been at Wake Forest since 1978 and regularly teaches the Intermediate Microeconomics sequence and Antitrust Economics. She and her husband Dan have two sons, one daughter and a grandson.
