Activist Teachers

Several students, faculty members and alumni from the Wake Forest Teacher Education Program participated in the Moral Monday for Education in Raleigh on July 29.
Students, faculty and alumni protesting education legislationSupporters were there to advocate for teachers and public schools in North Carolina and to oppose recent budget actions by the state legislature.  Major issues include funding vouchers for private schools, eliminating the tenure structure, increasing class sizes, reducing the number of teaching assistants, ending pay differential for master’s degree, and maintaining low teacher pay.
