Students and Faculty Present at 2014 NCETA Conference

Dr. Alan Brown, Dr. Joan Mitchell, and undergraduate and graduate English education students from the WFU Department of EducationStudents and faculty at 2014 NCETA Conference presented on Friday, October 10, at the annual conference of the North Carolina English Teachers’ Association (NCETA).

Dr. Brown organized a roundtable session entitled “Exploring Diversity, Difference, and Social Justice through Multicultural American Literature.” During the workshop, students presented pedagogical ideas pertaining to contemporary and canonical multicultural American texts.

Dr. Joan Mitchell served as the session’s keynote speaker as she presented a talk entitled “What Lies Beneath: Using Multicultural Literature to Promote Critical Discourse.”

Student presenters included Bailey Allman, Sam Best, Robby Ciarrocca, Quentin Collie, Rachel Koval, Stephen Langford, Julia Means, Bailey Pittenger, Kelsey Rector, and Lindsay Schneider.
