FOR SECONDARY, SECOND LANGUAGE AND SCHOOL COUNSELING LICENSURE APPLICANTS:
Testing Changes Effective July 1, 2014
Praxis Subject Assessment Tests will be required for all applicants for an initial teaching license as mandated by recent legislative action. The State Board of Education approved the recommendation that the policy will go into effect for candidates completing licensure/program requirements on/after July 1, 2014.
FOR ELEMENTARY EDUCATION LICENSURE APPLICANTS:
Effective October 1, 2014 – Elementary Education initial teaching licensure candidates must pass the Pearson Foundations of Reading and General Curriculum exams *Prior to being recommended for licensure by the Wake Forest Department of Education. These exams are used to meet the federal requirement of highly qualified.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WAKE FOREST DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION REQUIRES TEACHER CANDIDATES TO PASS ALL STATE LICENSURE EXAMS PRIOR TO BEING RECOMMENDED FOR LICENSURE.
