Testing Requirements for North Carolina Licensure
FOR SECONDARY, SECOND LANGUAGE AND SCHOOL COUNSELING LICENSURE APPLICANTS:
Testing Changes Effective July 1, 2014
Praxis II tests will be required for all applicants for an initial teaching license as mandated by recent legislative action. The State Board of Education approved the recommendation that the policy will go into effect for candidates completing licensure/program requirements on/after July 1, 2014.
FOR ELEMENTARY EDUCATION LICENSURE APPLICANTS:
Effective October 1, 2014 – Elementart Education initial teaching licensure candidates must pass the Pearson Foundations of Reading and General Curriculum exams *Prior to being recommended for licensure by the Wake Forest Department of Education. These exams are used to meet the federal requirement of highly qualified.
*Note: Passing scores for the Foundations of Reading and General Curriculum exams are expected to be set by the SBE no later than September 2014.
