The Department of Education offers both majors and minors in education.

Students who are interested in teaching elementary (grades K-6) will major in Elementary Education. Students who want to teach high school (grades 9-12) English, mathematics, science (i.e., biology, chemistry, or physics), or social studies (e.g., history, political science, economics, sociology, or anthropology), or grades K-12 foreign language (i.e., French, German, Spanish), will major in their teaching specialty and minor in Secondary Education.

The minor in Schools, Education, and Society (SES) is intended for students who have an interest in education but who are not pursuing a teaching license.
