José Luis Venegas is Associate Professor of Romance Languages and Interdisciplinary Humanities. His teaching and research focus on Comparative Literature and Transatlantic Studies, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary Spanish and Spanish American narrative. He is the author of Decolonizing Modernism: James Joyce and the Development of Spanish American Fiction (Oxford: Legenda, 2010) and Transatlantic Correspondence: Modernity, Epistolarity, and Literature in Spain and Spanish America, 1898-1992 (Columbus: Ohio State University Press, forthcoming). He has also published comparative studies and articles on modern and contemporary Hispanic literature and culture in MLN, Hispanic Review, Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies, Revista Hispánica Moderna, and Symposium, among other venues.
