Arg, Windows 8.1 Changed How You Shutdown Apps
Posted on: November 1, 2013
With Windows 8.1, there was a key change, and annoying in my opinion, to the finger gesture used to shutdown an app. To shutdown an app in Windows 8, all you needed to do was drag your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom and release. The app would disappear off the screen and shutdown. With Windows 8.1, you need to drag your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom and then hold the app until you see the app “flip” to the app icon. Then, release the app and it closes. If you do not hold the app until the flip, the app actually never closes completely and will use system resources in the background.
