Six Perspectives of Latin America

20090318dixon5866Wake Forest University and eight other organizations are involved in an international multidisciplinary event during 2014-2016 featuring new music by Chilean composer/guitarist, Javier Farías. The events will take place in seven locations throughout the Americas and will pay tribute to the six Latin American Nobel Prize Award authors.

Music faculty, Patricia Dixon is organizing a series of events on the Wake Forest University campus on SeptemberBenjamin Verdery Music Event 22 through the 25, 2014, featuring world class classical guitarists Eliot Fisk and Benjamin Verdery.

The opening event will feature new music for student quartet “Recinto de la Piedra” featuring John Kossler, Nick Bennet Drake Duffer,and Lando Pieroni, to complement a photo exhibit by Jorge Otero.

A Concert featuring Eliot Fisk and Ben Verdery will premiere three new works for guitar: “Geografía de un Canto” for solo guitar, and “Cortada fue la Tierra” for two guitars by Farías, and “Homenaje a Neruda”by Ben Verdery.

Dr. Harris Feinsod from Northwestern University is the featured guest speaker, and alumnus John Kossler will present a solo recital on the last day of the event.

The Inter American Development Bank is sponsoring the production of a music CD featuring Javier Farías music for whole project.
