Help support the Choral International Tour by coming to the Holiday Choral Concert tonight!

by on December 5, 2013

The ensembles of the Choral Department at Wake Forest University will present music for the holiday season at this traditional annual event.  The admission charge for this concert will help cover Concert Choir’s travel expenses when the group takes its third international tour to Ireland in March 2014. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for students. Wake Forest students will be admitted free with ID cards.  Anyone wishing to reserve tickets may do so by calling the Music Department Office at 758-5026. The featured selections will be Morten Lauridsen’s O Nata Lux sung by Concert Choir, a new arrangement of Silent Night by Michael Culloton presented by the Collegium Vocal Ensemble, and Benjamin Britten’s challenging setting of The Sycamore Tree performed by the Wake Forest Chamber Choir.  The combined ensembles will sing three movements from Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with harp accompaniment to close the program.

The Wake Forest Department of Music is pleased to announce the third international Concert Choir tour to Galway and Dublin, Ireland for March 7-14, 2014.  Tonight’s performance continues the choir’s effort to prepare the repertoire and raise funds for the concert tour.  Your admission fees will assist us greatly in raising funds to continue the Concert Choir’s international touring program.

Should you be interested in helping us further to make this “once in a lifetime” opportunity for the singers a reality, there are a number of ways in which you could assist us. Direct contributions to the Ireland Tour are very welcome.  Cash or checks made out to Wake Forest University may be given to the concert assistant in the ticket booth in the lobby after the performance.  Contributions can also be mailed to Concert Choir Ireland Tour, Wake Forest Department of Music, PO Box 7345, Winston-Salem, NC, 27109. DecChoral2013website

Also, the singers will be selling baked goods and refreshments in the lobby following the concert.  Your purchases will benefit the tour and your presence will help us celebrate the coming of the holiday season.  The singers and conductor thank you in advance for your generous support.
