Interested in learning more about classical music? WFDD presents a series of 7-minute programs with our own Dr. Peter Kairoff entitled “Kairoff at the Keyboard.”
February 23, 2013 will mark The 36th Giles Harris Competitions in Musical Performance. The Piano Competition featuring Music from Brahms and Schumann will begin at 10:00 am. The Open Competition featuring Music from 1912-2012 will begin at 1:00 pm. To see the winners of last year’s competition click here.
From February 1-24, 33 Variations will be performed at Hanesbrands Theatre. FestivalStage collaborates with Wake Forest Theatre and includes current students and WFU alumni as well as Professor of music, Louis Goldstein who performs the Variations live onstage throughout the play. As part of the 100th-year celebrations of Winston-Salem, Composer-in-Residence, Dr. Dan Locklair’s new orchestral piece, Hail the Coming Day (A Festive Piece for Orchestra) will be premiered by the Winston-Salem Symphony.
