Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor society for the liberal arts. The first chapter of Phi Beta Kappa was founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary; there are now  293 chapters at prestigious colleges and universities throughout the United States. Less than ten percent of undergraduates in the liberal arts and sciences at these institutions are selected for lifetime membership.

Phi Beta Kappa celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. The Society sponsors activities to advance the study of the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences.  For more information, please visit the Phi Beta Kappa Society’s website , which is updated frequently with news from the national organization, including announcements of internship opportunities.

Wake Forest University’s Phi Beta Kappa chapter, Delta of North Carolina, was established in 1941 with the induction of 10 student members.  With the growth of the University, we now induct about 85 students a year–about 8% of the graduating class. Currently, 109 faculty and staff are chapter members.
