TITLE: Assistant Professor
LOCATION: 1834 Wake Forest Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27109
DUTIES: Tenure track position in African Politics and International Studies. Responsible for teaching and research in the area(s) of the politics of Sub-Saharan Africa, international and/or comparative politics. Included in the teaching load will be courses offered for interdisciplinary minors in African Studies and International Studies. This position will also initiate, facilitate and moderate classroom discussions; evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments and papers; supervise internships; hold regular office hours to meet with students; prepare all course materials; compile, administer and grade examinations or assign this work to others; maintain attendance records, grades and other required records; complete all departmental administrative tasks; and attend all program faculty meetings and events. Also required to keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, sharing resources in the field, and participate in professional conferences.TRAVEL: Occasional travel to conferences.
REQUIREMENTS: PhD in Political Science or closely related degree or foreign degree equivalent.
HOURS: 8:30 am -5 pm, Mon. – Fri. (hours vary depending on courses taught)
