Wake Forest University Pre-Law

lawschoolThis Pre-Law program at Wake Forest is designed to assist WFU students and alumni in understanding:

• the pros and cons of attending law school and of embarking on a legal career;
• the mechanics of applying to law school;

• the best ways for Wake undergrads to prepare for law school; and
• how to get the information and advice you will need along the way.

You will have lots of homework to do as you consider a journey into the law. We hope you will visit this website and its links and set up appointments with the Pre-Law Adviser to stay as informed as you can be!

Pre-Law Adviser:

Patricia Fitzgerald Poole (Patty) is the Pre-Law Adviser for Wake Forest University. Patty graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law and has a Master’s degree in Education.  She has over 22 years of experience practicing law in the mass torts area and she served as outside counsel liaison to a Fortune 500 client.  Patty is also a North Carolina Superior Court Certified Mediator and completed a Federal Clerkship with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.  She also has teaching and advising experience and has facilitated many staff and attorney training sessions at large law firms throughout the country.  Patty is married to a local attorney and has two adult daughters.   She has a passion for working with students and would love to meet you and help you explore your interests.

If you’re considering a career in law, we encourage you to meet with Patty so that you can develop a strategy that will maximize your chances of getting into the law school of your choice and that will give you a good understanding of what a legal education entails. Patty is generally available for personal meetings on Wednesdays 11:30 -2:00 and Thursday afternoons in the OPCD by appointment.  You can sign up for an appointment through the OPCD Handshake system or you may contact Patty at poolepf@wfu.edu.

We hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities available to pre-law students here at Wake, including the Pre-Law Society, the Mock Trial Team, the informal Law Student Mentoring Program, and many others. Upcoming pre-law events are listed in the calendar on this site.
