Claudia G. Vestal, a native from Mexico City, holds a Ph.D. in Education from University of Baja California, Mexico. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Business Administration from UFRAM. She also holds a B.A. in ESOL from UNAM, Mexico. She holds two Masters, one in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from The University of Leon, and Applied Linguistics from the University of Jaen in Spain.

Before joining the department, she taught, coordinated, designed, and created a wide variety of specialized Spanish language, literature, and culture courses for Pfeiffer University, North Carolina Virtual Public Schools, Guilford Technical Community College, and private high schools in different teaching contexts.

She is the President for the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
