Major/Minor

Requirements for the Major

The major in French Studies requires a minimum of 27 hours of French courses numbered above 214. FRH 216, 315 or 350, 319, 370, one of the genre courses (363, 364, or 365), and four other courses are required. Students are advised and encouraged to take related courses in other areas of the University curriculum, such as HST 217, 218, and 317, and HMN 222.
Students must achieve at least a C grade in 319 and a GPA of 2.0 in the major. 319 must be taken at Wake Forest. Credit towards the major cannot be received for both 320 and 351.

Requirements for the Minor

The minor in French Studies requires a minimum of 18 hours of French courses numbered above 214. FRH 216, 315 or 350, 319 and three other courses are required. Credit towards the minor cannot be received for both 320 and 351. Students must achieve at least a C grade in 319 and a GPA of 2.0 in the minor. 319 must be taken at Wake Forest. Some courses are not offered every semester; students should plan ahead in order to fulfill all requirements.
