 Welcome!

The Sociology Department at Wake Forest University is a thriving community of scholars and students devoted to the study of human societies, social interactions, and social inequalities.  Sociology has a rich and diverse heritage and provides a powerful perspective on the complexities of social life.

Our courses offer students the opportunity to examine such topics as crime and deviance, gender, race and religion in society, sexuality, education, politics, health, emotion, and business, just to name a few.  Together, faculty and students probe some of the major issues and dilemmas of the modern world as they strive to understand the society in which we live.  Studying sociology is not only a critical part of a liberal arts education; it prepares students for careers in law, medicine, public health, international affairs, social service, education, business, and a wide range of other fields.
