Maddie Arnel wins National Italian American Foundation Photo Contest

“It was an honor to be announced the grand-prize winner of the National Italian American Foundation’s (NIAF) 2016 photo contest. Out of over 100 applicants and 24 finalists, “Speaking Hands: How Tradition Molds Modernity” was selected. The photo was presented at NIAF’s gala weekend held in Washington, D.C., which I attended as the winner of the contest. I completed this project in conjunction with Dr. Silvia Tiboni-Craft, Assistant Teaching Professor of Italian.

This opportunity was so meaningful for me because my participation in the Italian program of Wake Forest opened my eyes to the exquisite Italian culture and created a bridge between the Wake forest community and the NIAF community. I will never forget the experience of presenting my passion for Wake Forest and the Italian culture at the oldest Italian-American heritage foundation in the country.”
