WFU Theatre presents children’s musical Honk! Jr.

Wake Forest students Phil Kayser and Ashton Smalling star in the Wake Forest Theatre production of Honk, Jr., on the Tedford Stage.

The Wake Forest University Theatre will present the children’s musical Honk! Jr., which will be directed by Professor of Theatre Dr. Cindy Gendrich.

Honk! Jr. is a heartwarming celebration of being different, and a moving tale of self-discovery. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling,” it is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit, unique charm and delightful score.

Scenic design will be by Dahlia Al-Habieli, Post-graduate Teaching Fellow in Theatre.  Costume design is by Mary Wayne-Thomas, Professor of Theatre.  Lighting and Sound designs are by Kevin Frazier, Assistant Professor of Theatre.  Natalie Cordone (’01)  is back at WFU as the Vocal Director.   Choreographers for the production are Nina Lucas, Associate Professor of Dance; Christina Soriano, Associate Professor of Dance; Jessie Laurita-Spanglet, Post-graduate Teaching Fellow in Dance; and Angela Fuller.  Current students Lily Wieland is stage managing, and Branden Cook is the Props Master.  The cast consists of Philip Kayser, Ashton Smalling, Branden Cook, Valerie Medoff, Hayleigh Carroll, Connor Sagerman, Madeline Jones, Tori Spong, Anna Hibbert, Caleb Cabiness, Matt Crawford, Luke Clellan Dellorso, Ria Matheson, Katy Milian, Alex Kratochwill, and Hannah Menaker.

Performances are November 4-5 and 10-12 at 7:30 PM and November 6 and 13 at 2:00 PM on the Tedford Main Stage of the Scales Fine Arts Center.  Tickets are $15 adults, $12 senior citizens, and $7 students (price includes sales tax).  For tickets or information, call the Theatre Box Office at (336) 758-5295 or purchase online at college.wfu.edu/theatre.  The Box Office is open Tuesday-Friday from 1-5 PM and one hour prior to curtain on performance days.
