Dr. Silvia Tiboni-Craft Awarded 2025 Award for Excellence in Advising
The 2025 Excellence in Advising Award goes to Dr. Silvia Tiboni-Craft. Newly promoted as Teaching Professor of Italian Studies starting in July, Dr. Tiboni-Craft consistently exemplifies Wake Forest’s commitment to personalized education and faculty-student mentorship.
Student nominations unanimously highlight her exceptional dedication and ability to establish positive faculty connections from her FYS courses to her pivotal role as senior faculty fellow for Bostwick Residence Hall.
One student writes that Dr. Tiboni-Craft was “the first professor I had any interaction with on campus, and she set an amazing precedent for my future interactions with other professors.” Another notes how Dr. Tiboni-Craft’s “expertise of the curriculum coupled with her ability to encourage students to pursue growth not only academically, but personally,” led students to enroll in courses across disciplines, exemplifying the benefits of a liberal arts education.
A senior who is graduating with an Italian Language and Culture Minor sent a glowing nomination of Dr. Tiboni-Craft’s positive influence on her time at Wake Forest. She emphasized how “Professor Tiboni-Craft is extremely invested in the intellectual and personal growth of her students and advisees,” noting how she actively connects students with academic opportunities and resources across the university while offering multiple points of connection throughout the semester to stay in touch.
For her holistic approach to students’ academic excellence, the Dean and the faculty congratulate Dr. Tiboni-Craft on this well-deserved recognition.
