Anthony Marsh, Interim Dean of the College, Wake Forest University
Interim Dean Anthony Marsh received his undergraduate degree with honors and his master’s degree from the University of Western Australia and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Exercise Science. He came to Wake Forest in August 1996, after a year as a lecturer at California State University-Sacramento.
He teaches undergraduate courses in Anatomy and Biomechanics, taught a First Year Seminar class for four years, and led a study abroad semester at Casa Artom in Venice in Spring 2014. He is an affiliate faculty member in the VT-WFU School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences and in Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Marsh has served as the HES Graduate Program Director, as a member and Chair of the WFU Institutional Review Board, and as a member and Chair of the Research Advisory Council. He has served Wake Forest as an Associate Dean of the College since January 2016 and is currently serving as Interim Dean of the College.
He has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts; received substantial external funding from the National Institutes of Health for this work in the prevention and amelioration of functional loss and mobility disability in older adults; is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the Gerontological Society of America; and serves on the Editorial Board of Journals of Gerontology: Medical Sciences.
