Members of the Academic Honor System
The Honor and Ethics Council hears all cases involving academic misconduct. Its task is to find the truth and render fair judgments.
- Consults with and advises faculty regarding potential cases of academic misconduct
- Determines whether reported allegations will be presented as a case of academic misconduct to be adjudicated via a hearing
- Oversee the HEC process on behalf of the Dean of the College
- Convene and chair hearings to adjudicate cases of alleged academic misconduct
- Recruit, train, and oversee faculty and student Hearing Panelists
- Review case materials, participate in hearings, and deliberate on the merits of the presented case in order to reach a finding regarding the likelihood of academic misconduct
- Participate in deliberations to assign sanctions when appropriate
- Manages the logistics and implementation of the HEC procedures at each stage
- Provides support for students
