The College Board of Visitors Faculty Leadership Award
In 2017, the College Board of Visitors began an annual award to recognize outstanding academic leadership by faculty of the Undergraduate College. The College Board of Visitors Faculty Leadership Award recognizes that leadership is a valued practice and confirms that faculty leaders can be effective agents of change on behalf of the institution, students, and colleagues. These leaders are committed to our institutional vision and an abiding commitment to academic excellence, diversity and inclusion, workplace innovation, and commitment to students and the Wake Forest community.

The College Board of Visitors Staff Leadership Award
The overwhelming response to the faculty leadership award led the College Board of Visitors to expand their financial support and to announce the establishment of the College Board of Visitors Staff Leadership Award in 2020. This award recognizes that leadership is a valued practice and confirms that staff leaders can be effective agents of change on behalf of the institution, students, and colleagues. These leaders are committed to our institutional vision and an abiding commitment to academic excellence, diversity and inclusion, workplace innovation, and commitment to students and the Wake Forest community.

The Hubert McNeill Poteat Lecture
Named in honor of Hubert McNeill Poteat, who taught at Wake Forest University from 1911 to 1956 and was widely known and respected as a Latin scholar, the Hubert McNeill Poteat Lecture series is designed to recognize and celebrate the many achievements of our faculty in research, scholarly, and creative work. The annual lectures are held each spring and are alternately sponsored by the Office of the Dean of the College and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

The Reid-Doyle Prize for Excellence in Teaching
The Reid-Doyle Prize for Excellence in Teaching is for a faculty member in the Wake Forest College who is still in the early part of his or her career. The award was established in 1971 and renamed in 1986 in recognition of the generosity of the late Wilbur Doyle (’48), who endowed the prize to honor his philosophy professor, A.C. Reid. The Reid-Doyle Prize is also supported by the Alumni Council and the Alumni Association. Recipients are announced at the Faculty Meeting in May.

The Jon Reinhardt Award for Distinguished Teaching
The Jon Reinhardt Award for Distinguished Teaching award recognizes an experienced member of the faculty, distinguished as a teacher in the broadest sense of the word, and recognized not only for performance in the classroom but also for exemplifying the ideals of a liberal arts education. To be considered for the award, faculty members must have held the rank of associate or full professor, or its equivalent, for at least a year. Recipients are announced at the Faculty Meeting in May.

Teaching Professionals Award for Excellence in Teaching
The Teaching Professionals Award for Excellence in Teaching honors a Wake Forest College teaching professional faculty member at any level of their career. The award was established in 2020 by the Dean of the College from an anonymous gift. Recipients are announced at the College Faculty Meeting in May.

The Award for Excellence in Research recognizes a faculty member in the College in the early part of his or her career. Excellence in Advising Award
The Excellence in Advising Award was established in 1988 to recognize outstanding advising in Wake Forest College, especially at the undergraduate lower division level. Supported by the Office of the Dean of the College, the award is both honorary and monetary. Nominations are solicited from all College faculty, staff, and students, with the award limited to faculty and staff advising in the College. This award is given during the May faculty meeting.

The Kulynych Family Omicron Delta Kappa Award
The Kulynych Family Omicron Delta Kappa Award was established in 1982 by the Wake Forest Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa to recognize an outstanding faculty member who bridges the gap between the classroom and student life. The recipient must contribute beyond the expected duties of teaching and research. In 1997, the award was endowed by the Kulynych Family Foundation and the name was changed to honor the Kulynych family. This award is given during the May faculty meeting.

The Donald O. Schoonmaker Faculty Award for Community Service
The Donald O. Schoonmaker Faculty Award for Community Service was established in 1988 by the Wake Forest Alumni Council to recognize extraordinary community service of a respected teacher/scholar from the College. The award was named in memory of Donald Schoonmaker (’60), professor of politics. Dr. Schoonmaker was posthumously awarded the faculty prize for community service in 1993. This award is given during the May faculty meeting.

The URECA Award for Excellence in Mentorship in Research and Creative Work in the Sciences and Social Sciences recognizes those faculty who share their passion for scholarship and creative activities and who encourage and inspire their students to work closely with them. Faculty and students are invited to nominate faculty for this award. Nominations are accepted in the fall semester, and the awards are presented at the Faculty Meeting in May.
